He was vice chairman of Illinois Tool Works Inc. between 1999 and 2004. Prior to joining Illinois Tool Works, he was chairman, president and CEO of Premark International, Inc., which merged with Illinois Tool Works in 1999.
Ringler joined Premark in 1990 and served as EVP and COO prior to becoming CEO in 1996. He serves on the boards of Dow Chemical Company, FMC Technologies, Inc., Corn Products International and he is the chairman of the board of Teradata Corporation.
