Barack Obama on Monday announced Hillary Rodham Clinton as his nominee for secretary of state. He also named James Jones as national security adviser, Eric Holder as attorney general, Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano as the secretary of homeland security and Susan Rice as U.N. ambassador. He has asked Defense Secretary Robert Gates to stay on.

Carl Icahn’s continuing purchase of Yahoo stock may indicate that the selection of a new company CEO is imminent, reports All Things Digital.

Jon Favreau will join the White House staff as director of speechwriting, reports the New York Times. Favreau, 27, has worked with President-elect Barack Obama since 2005.

The Washington Post reports that the Pulitzer Prize-winning expert on genocide is part of the transition team, offering advice on - of all things - State Department issues.
