David Satcher biographical information:
David Satcher is the director of the Satcher Health Leadership Institute and the Center of Excellence on Health Disparities at the Morehouse School of Medicine, where he also occupies the Poussaint-Satcher-Cosby Chair in Mental Health.
From December 2004 to July 2006, he served as the president of MSM.
Satcher completed his four-year term as the 16th surgeon general of the U.S. in February 2002, after which he served as a senior visiting fellow with the Kaiser Family Foundation until he assumed the post of Director of the National Center for Primary Care.
He served as the U.S. assistant secretary for health from 1998 to January 2001, and from 1993 to 1998, he was the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.
He is a member of the board of directors of Johnson & Johnson, the Kaiser Family Foundation, the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta and the United Way of Atlanta, and is co-chair of the Advertising Council's Advisory Committee on Public Issues.
