Appointed to the DEA by President Barack Obama in 2015, Rosenberg stayed on when Donald Trump became president. After Trump told law enforcement officers "please don't be too nice" when dealing with suspects, Rosenberg sent an email to staff, saying, "We must earn and keep the public trust and continue to hold ourselves to the very highest standards. Ours is an honorable profession and, so, we will always act honorably." He resigned from the post two months later.
