Philanthropy: Sackler gave 1,000 art objects to the Smithsonian, now housed in the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery. He also endowed galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Princeton University, and a museum at Harvard University. After his death, the Arthur M. Sackler Museum of Art and Archaeology opened at Peking University in Beijing.
